Construction Update & Traffic Impacts

New Bike Lanes are Open on Virginia Street from Mill Street to 6th Street!
Crews have completed the current phase of work on Virginia Street as part of the Biggest Little Bike Network! Thank you for your patience as crews prepared the roadway, restriped travel lanes, and added new green bike lanes.

Crews plan to return for two additional phases of work:

  • Mid-October: Complete striping on the Virginia Street Bridge. A special overlay treatment is needed on the bridge before striping can be completed. This work will be done during the daytime.

  • Coming Months: Complete concrete work along the Virginia Street project corridor.

We’ll share details about the timing and any anticipated traffic impacts as each phase approaches.

Vine Street Work Temporarily Paused
Work on the Vine Street corridor was originally scheduled to begin next week, but crews are pausing work on that corridor due to upcoming detours as part of the RTC's 4th Street Project. We will provide updates about when work may begin.

Up Next: Work on Evans Ave./Lake St./Sinclair St. Set to Begin in Coming Weeks
With Vine Street work paused, crews are pivoting to begin work on improvements along the Sinclair Street, Lake Street, and Evans Avenue corridor. Upgrades include protected bike lanes and two-way bike facilities, improved intersections and pedestrian ramps, pedestrian refuge islands, accessible parking, and traffic calming measures on Sinclair Street. Bike boxes and two-stage turn boxes will help people biking navigate intersections, while floating bus stops on Lake Street will separate passenger boarding areas from bike lanes. The project also includes a protected intersection at Fifth Street and Evans Avenue. We'll provide information about traffic control impacts before construction begins in this area.
